The challenge
The property has several user types: guests, turnover cleaning, pool maintenance and occasional technical service.
A single physical backup key shared by multiple people quickly becomes difficult to control, so access should be designed around real roles.
Proposed access design
The project defines access by role and schedule, with explicit seasonal battery maintenance.
- guest PIN valid only for the booking
- separate cleaning access
- limited maintenance credentials when required
- preventive battery replacement before and during peak season
- a controlled mechanical or alternative backup
How the guest journey would work
Locks, network conditions and backup procedures are tested before the season.
Each guest receives stay-specific access.
Service users never need the guest credential.
Battery checks follow a schedule rather than waiting for a guest warning.
Expected operational effect
The value goes beyond self check-in: the owner gains clearer control over who enters between bookings.
Seasonal properties need a seasonal maintenance plan; smart hardware without battery discipline simply moves the problem.
